A "Tienanmen Moment" Approaches in Egypt

A tense calm prevails in Tahrir Square of the Egyptian capital, as Mubarak approaches the proverbial fork in the road as Egypt faces its “Tienanmen Moment“.
The foreign press from Russia to Brazil, from CNN to Aljazeera, have been threatened, their property confiscated or destroyed and their journalists physically beaten to the point that they now report only from “an undisclosed location”.  Their fears mirror those of the local and foreign press in the hours that proceeded the end of the democratic aspirations of the Chinese people resulting from the Tianimen Square Massacre .
Mubarak reportedly is also considering a US proposal for his immediate departure. The proposal being considered not only assures the safety of Mubarak and his two sons (whom are already in London), but also guarantees his control of the billions of dollars he holds in foreign banks – a fortune absconded from the annual stipend of $1.3 billion dollars his country received for the last thirty years at the pleasure of the beleaguered US taxpayer.
The major countries of the European Union, in a joint communique, stated that Mubarak should resign immediately. The US, not wanting to again be too late in the game as it was with the Iranian revolution of 1979 is now publicly stating the same.
Regardless of the choice Mubarak and his government makes at this historic  fork in the road, a sea change certainly awaits the governments of both the US and the Israel.
