Joy in the Face of Adversity

Conquer Adversity

I have come to a conclusion.
I want JOY even in the face of adversity.
Adversity has it’s own demonic seduction, pulling the participant down, down, down, further, which can be a dramatic experience.
To hold out for joy though, even while undergoing adversity, is to give adversity a kick in its backside, to say screw you, you don’t get to own all of me.
It is a commitment, a willingness, not to let the beautiful childlike parts of ourselves disappear.
It’s a snow angel on a stormy day.
It’s popping soap bubbles floating and casting rainbows, not to destroy them, but to be a part of a larger imagining.
There is no reason to ever disown the primordial elements of me.
How about you?

  1. “Joy in the face of adversity…no reason to disown the primordial elements of me.” There is no counter-argument, only examples of prolonged bouts with adversity yielding to cessation if it comes. Resistance and relief a revolution which one hopes doesn’t define their work and if so one finds reprieve in time-off. Still, conditioned responses to adversity seem to manifest in more adversity. Who, besides children, can show those without them (children) conditioning or coping patterns that uncover the lightness within me. Rainbows over my cranium catching golden threads of joy that is supposed to be there. Let’s help to find the colors that parallel our arc of color with ones we can glide through the weather. I write to respond, nothing much more, joy perhaps to make words in a mechanical existence. Peace, friend.
